While much has been said about the demise of the auto industry in America, Detroit may have finaly realized that design IS important. Whether it is soon enough to save their industry, remains to be seen. From a design point of view, it is nonetheless a breath of fresh air and a hopeful sign.

MINIATURE ITEMS FROM ALESSI
Posted on November 20th, 2008 1 commentJust in time for the holidays, Nelson Bridge presents two miniature collectibles from Alessi.
The Miniature Kettle by Michael Graves and the Anna G. miniature corkscrew by Alessandro Mendini. From Alessi on the miniature collection:
Through our experience at Alessi, we are well aware of the fact that people buy our coffee makers and kettles not just because they have to make coffee or boil water, but also because of a whole series of other reasons linked to factors that have as much to do with our imagination as they do for their practical and functional purpose. The collection was created with special consideration for collectors of our products, to give them the chance to complete their private collections of authentic objects and with considerable savings in terms of both space and expenditure.”
